Love, Your Trans Big Sister – A Reading, Conversation & Celebration

Center on Halsted Youth & Family Services is proud to partner with Chicago author and community leader Zia Varajon for a special evening celebrating her new book, Love, Your Trans Big Sister: Advice on the Transfeminine Journey. Designed with transgender, nonbinary, and LGBTQ+ youth and young adults in mind, this event will create an affirming space for storytelling, connection, education, and celebration.

The evening will introduce attendees to Zia Varajon’s work while raising funds to support both the author and Center on Halsted’s Youth & Family Services through ticket sales. By combining community building with meaningful conversation, the event will foster intergenerational connection and provide transgender youth with the opportunity to engage directly with an accomplished trans adult whose experiences and guidance reflect many of their own journeys.

Adding to the excitement of the evening, Monica Beverly Hillz will serve as the moderator for the discussion and audience Q&A, while Sasha Love will deliver a special live drag performance, creating a celebratory atmosphere that highlights the diversity, creativity, and resilience of Chicago’s transgender community.
