The Kings Are Dead pulses with life inside JT’s, a Black gay bar on the South Side of Chicago in 1997. Through the eyes of five people, we witness a community grappling with identity, legacy, and love. The tight-knit family at JT’s must confront their shared past and uncertain future. What unfolds is an intimate portrait of chosen family, the weight of history, and the power of spaces that provide refuge, affirmation, and the freedom to be one’s true self.
