Trans Youth & Family Action Summit

The Trans Youth & Family Action Summit at Center on Halsted is a community-oriented event focused on supporting transgender and gender-diverse youth and their families. The summit brings together trans youth, parents/caregivers, and allies to connect, learn, share resources, and build community in an affirming environment.
Key elements of the Summit:
β Community Building: It offers a space for trans youth and family members to meet others with similar experiences and foster supportive relationships.
β Workshops & Sessions: The program often includes practical workshops and panels on topics like gender-affirming health care, legal rights and processes (such as name changes), mental health, and daily life support for trans youth and their families.
Resource Access: Attendees can connect with local organizations, service providers, and experts who work in areas such as healthcare, mental health, legal support, and education.
β Inclusive Participation: While the summit centers trans youth, families (including parents, caregivers, and siblings) and allies are encouraged to attend; some sessions are specifically designed for family members to help them better understand how to support their trans loved ones.
β Affirming Environment: The event is structured to be welcoming, educational, and empowering, helping youth and families access information and build confidence in navigating social, medical, legal, and educational systems.
The summit takes place over a half-day in the spring and includes a mix of informational sessions, panels, and opportunities to connect with peers and supportive adults.
