Artemis Singers Spring Concert – Power in Harmony

May 2 @ 7:00 pm
$20

Why “Power in Harmony”?
Artemis Singers, Chicago’s Lesbian Feminist Chorus, presents a concert that celebrates strength through connection. Power in Harmony explores the idea that true harmony is not the absence of difference, but the intentional blending of diverse voices and perspectives. Dissonance, when heard and recognized, can result in stronger resolutions and lead to greater unity within a community.

Performing works written or arranged by women, including several Chicago-based composers and arrangers, Artemis Singers seeks to share with their audience the bold harmonies that reflect both the music and the resilient lesbian feminist community that inspires it.

Preview of this Summer’s Sister Singers Network Choral Festival
Artemis Singers is hosting over 20 choruses this July for an every-four-years choral festival bringing together feminist choruses from across the US and beyond. Choruses are assigned performance slots to perform their own sets. This May 2 concert is a preview of the set that Artemis Singers will perform on the choral festival stage.

Additionally, this concert features some small ensembles as well as several pieces that will be performed this summer as part of the closing night “mass chorus” event: two performances featuring 400 singers each, singing for social justice, equal rights, finding common ground, and creating change together.
