SUMMARY:United in Anger: Film Screening and Discussion with Sarah Schulman
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an early observation of World AIDS Day with a screening of United in Anger\, directed by Jim Hubbard. United in Anger is\, as described on the film’s website\, “an inspiring documentary about the birth and life of the AIDS activist movement from the perspective of the people in the trenches fighting the epidemic. Utilizing oral histories of members of ACT UP\, as well as rare archival footage\, the film depicts the efforts of ACT UP as it battles corporate greed\, social indifference\, and government neglect.” \nAfter the screening\, producer Sarah Schulman will talk about the creation of the film and participate in a Q&A. United in Anger has a run time of 93 minutes. Seating will be first-come\, first-served. \nSarah Schulman is a novelist\, playwright\, nonfiction writer\, screenwriter\, and AIDS historian. She holds an endowed chair in Creative Writing at Northwestern\, and is on the advisory board of Jewish Voice for Peace.
