Background music by Herbert Stothart. Dance and vocal arrangements by Peter Howard. Orchestration by Larry Wilcox. Adapted by John Kane for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Based upon the classic motion picture owned by Turner Entertainment Co. and distributed in all media by Warner Bros. Directed and choreographed by Tor Campbell and music directed by Sharon Mason. \nAudiences are invited to join The Cowardly Lion\, Scarecrow\, Tin Man\, Dorothy… and Toto\, too\, as they follow the yellow brick road in search of their heart’s desires. For the first time on Metropolis’ Main Stage\, L. Frank Baum’s tale comes to life in this extraordinary story of heart\, friendship\, courage and belonging. ABOUT THE WNBR Celebrating bicycle power and the beauty of people World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is an international clothing-optional people powered event that highlights the vulnerability of cyclists everywhere decries society’s dependence on pollution-based transport and promotes positive body image. It’s also just a lot of fun! The event is bare-as-you-dare; anything from body paint to underwear to fanciful costumes are encouraged. Due to legal restrictions full frontal nudity is at your own risk but many participants do go all out. Large-scale body painting is typically available pre-ride and personal expression is encouraged. past events drew over 2000 riders and covered over ten miles of high visibility city areas. Blessed by decent summer weather in a great cycling city the event has grown into a fantastic rolling celebration complete with a massive afterparty. DESCRIPTION:Presented by BIYA BIYA Productions\, this 2-hour workshop will teach participants the basics of embroidery into physical photos as an adornment and meditative practice. All skill levels are welcome and all materials will be provided for use in session. We HIGHLY encourage participants to bring their own photos that are personally meaningful. If you do not have a photo\, we will have photos available to embroider. \nWe will use this time together to adorn our photos\, embroider meditatively\, and share our photos and stories attached to them. SUMMARY:BIYA BIYA Persian Calligraphy Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join BIYA BIYA as we welcome a community auntie and artist to lead us in a Persian Calligraphy Workshop! Come learn the basic strokes of nastaliq – most commonly used for Persian poetry but shared across Arabic\, Dari\, Pashto & Urdu letters. No experience in these alphabets or nastaliq script is required\, and it is open to non-native Persian speakers. The session will first start with a presentation on the general history of calligraphy across cultures. \nThen\, through guided practice\, participants write a message in Persian to exercise the basic strokes of lettering for calligraphy. \nAll supplies are provided for use during the session. \nWorkshop will begin promptly at 12pm\, please be on time! Only 15 spots to ensure quality hands-on instruction.
