DESCRIPTION:Idle Muse Theatre Company continues its 20th anniversary season and kicks off the Halloween season with Witch\, September 10 – October 10\, written by Jen Silverman\, directed by Idle Muse Ensemble Member Libby Beyreis\, at The Edge Off-Broadway Theater\, 1133 W Catalpa Ave. \nA charming devil arrives in the quiet village of Edmonton to bargain for the souls of its residents in exchange for their darkest wishes. Elizabeth should be his easiest target\, having been labeled a “witch” and cast out by the town\, but her soul is not so readily bought. As the devil returns to convince her – and then returns again – unexpected passions flare\, alliances are formed and the village is forever changed. An inventive retelling of a Jacobean drama\, this sharp\, subversive fable debates how much our souls are worth when hope is hard to come by. \nThe performance schedule is Thursdays\, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.\, with an added Wednesday performance on October 7 at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are now on sale for $20 and $30\, with $50 “pay it forward” tickets that assist in subsidizing tickets for those who may not be able to access the production otherwise. Each installment ‘chapters’ of The Uncanny Attic creates imagined histories for four of Gorey’s ill-fated characters as told through puppetry\, clowning\, dance\, live music\, drag\, stop-motion animation\, and visual theater. \nSet inside the mysterious attic of an abandoned house on the cape and narrated by a family of resident raccoons\, each chapter is a self-contained theatrical journey into the camp macabre world of the fictional town\, Willowdale. California Ave.\, headlined by art/folk/cabaret act The Crooked Mouth and other special guests.  \nSince its inception in 1989\, as a single weekend of shows in the Wicker Park neighborhood\, this unique and mutable fringe festival has expanded and contracted to fit the time and has become the longest running Fringe Festival in Chicago. Ride the Cyclone is presented with book\, music and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell. The Metropolis production is directed by original American cast member Lillian Castillo\, and music directed by Carolyn Brady. \nIn a now-abandoned theme park not so long ago\, six teenagers hurtled to their death on the roller coaster The Cyclone. Now\, those teens are back from the afterlife\, with all of their unlived dreams\, potential\, hopes\, and fears in tow. They grapple with the lives they led on Earth and the choices they made – all except a mysterious and headless girl named Jane Doe\, who has no memory of her past. As instructed by a fortune-telling machine named The Amazing Karnak\, the teens need to decide who amongst them will receive the gift of returning to their life. As they fight to be the one to return\, they realize that life’s ups and downs\, tragedies and victories\, love and loss are all just part of the ride. \nAn added bonus to the Metropolis production features Director Lillian Castillo. Castillo is the original “Constance” on the world premiere cast recording. She originated the role in the American premiere at Chicago Shakespeare Theater and continued performing in the Off-Broadway\, Seattle and Atlanta productions. \nThe regular performance schedule is Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 and 7:30 p.m. The performance on Saturday\, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. will be closed captioned and the performance on Thursday\, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. will be ASL interpreted. Kingsbury St. \nThe Last Word is the ONLY craft cocktail progression paired with a screenplay. The story is based on Chartreuse\, a real-life liqueur that sells millions of bottles every year\, but only two people in the world know how to make it. When Mike finds one dying in the woods and is given the only known copy of the recipe\, he has to decide whether to return it to the monastery that keeps it safe or die trying. Audiences may experience a high-action comedy script complete with lights\, sound\, music and other fun surprises throughout the night\, including four cocktails crafted specifically for each act of the show. Finally\, at The Last Word\, there is only one rule: No one knows what will happen tonight. Content warning: flashing lights\, loud sounds\, profanity and depictions of violence. \nThe running time is two hours and 30 minutes\, including an intermission. California Ave.\, headlined by art/folk/cabaret act The Crooked Mouth and other special guests.  \nSince its inception in 1989\, as a single weekend of shows in the Wicker Park neighborhood\, this unique and mutable fringe festival has expanded and contracted to fit the time and has become the longest running Fringe Festival in Chicago. Festival events will take place at four venues this year: Facility Theatre\, 1138 N. California Ave. in Humboldt Park (Full Moon Vaudeville only); Chicago Dramatists\, 798 N. Aberdeen St. in River West\, The Labyrinth Club\, 3658 N. Pulaski Rd. in the Irving Park neighborhood and Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble\, 1650 W. They grapple with the lives they led on Earth and the choices they made – all except a mysterious and headless girl named Jane Doe\, who has no memory of her past. As instructed by a fortune-telling machine named The Amazing Karnak\, the teens need to decide who amongst them will receive the gift of returning to their life. As they fight to be the one to return\, they realize that life’s ups and downs\, tragedies and victories\, love and loss are all just part of the ride. \nAn added bonus to the Metropolis production features Director Lillian Castillo. Castillo is the original “Constance” on the world premiere cast recording. Joining with the members of a small town prayer circle\, four people try to convince their pastor to pray with them… to bring about some killer results. DESCRIPTION:Idle Muse Theatre Company continues its 20th anniversary season and kicks off the Halloween season with Witch\, September 10 – October 10\, written by Jen Silverman\, directed by Idle Muse Ensemble Member Libby Beyreis\, at The Edge Off-Broadway Theater\, 1133 W Catalpa Ave. \nA charming devil arrives in the quiet village of Edmonton to bargain for the souls of its residents in exchange for their darkest wishes. Elizabeth should be his easiest target\, having been labeled a “witch” and cast out by the town\, but her soul is not so readily bought. As the devil returns to convince her – and then returns again – unexpected passions flare\, alliances are formed and the village is forever changed. An inventive retelling of a Jacobean drama\, this sharp\, subversive fable debates how much our souls are worth when hope is hard to come by. \nThe performance schedule is Thursdays\, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.\, with an added Wednesday performance on October 7 at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are now on sale for $20 and $30\, with $50 “pay it forward” tickets that assist in subsidizing tickets for those who may not be able to access the production otherwise.
