Elizabeth should be his easiest target\, having been labeled a “witch” and cast out by the town\, but her soul is not so readily bought. As the devil returns to convince her – and then returns again – unexpected passions flare\, alliances are formed and the village is forever changed. An inventive retelling of a Jacobean drama\, this sharp\, subversive fable debates how much our souls are worth when hope is hard to come by. \nThe performance schedule is Thursdays\, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.\, with an added Wednesday performance on October 7 at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are now on sale for $20 and $30\, with $50 “pay it forward” tickets that assist in subsidizing tickets for those who may not be able to access the production otherwise. DESCRIPTION:Curious Theatre Branch\, with co-producers Chicago Danztheater Ensemble\, Chicago Dramatists and Labyrinth Club\, are pleased to announce the 37th annual Rhinoceros Theater Festival\, September 20 – October 26 at four venues across Chicago. The month-long festival of shows will kick off with a special “afternoon tea” edition of the Full Moon Vaudeville\, this concert launches the festival on Sunday\, Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. at Facility Theatre\, 1138 N. California Ave.\, headlined by art/folk/cabaret act The Crooked Mouth and other special guests.  \nSince its inception in 1989\, as a single weekend of shows in the Wicker Park neighborhood\, this unique and mutable fringe festival has expanded and contracted to fit the time and has become the longest running Fringe Festival in Chicago. Festival events will take place at four venues this year: Facility Theatre\, 1138 N. California Ave. in Humboldt Park (Full Moon Vaudeville only); Chicago Dramatists\, 798 N. Aberdeen St. in River West\, The Labyrinth Club\, 3658 N. Pulaski Rd. in the Irving Park neighborhood and Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble\, 1650 W. Foster Ave.  \nThe 37th Rhinofest will feature mostly original work from Chicago artists and companies\, including new work from The Fat Theatre Project\, the 10th anniversary of Ira Murfin’s An Interview\, a new work by Jessica Wright Buha\, new work from Drinking and Writing Theater\, and\, of course\, an evening of short works by The Curious Theatre Branch\, Rhinofest’s host. New to the Festival in 2026 are partnerships with Chicago Danztheater\, a beautiful space in Andersonville\, featuring movement-based work and a creativity workshop called Maps\, Guides & Legends: a generative writing and interdisciplinary art-making workshop on Saturday\, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.   \nAll tickets are offered at pay-what-you-can pricing\, with a $25 suggested price. Campbell St.\, is proud to announce the cast and creative team for Ride the Cyclone\, September 16 – October 25. Ride the Cyclone is presented with book\, music and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell. The Metropolis production is directed by original American cast member Lillian Castillo\, and music directed by Carolyn Brady. \nIn a now-abandoned theme park not so long ago\, six teenagers hurtled to their death on the roller coaster The Cyclone. Now\, those teens are back from the afterlife\, with all of their unlived dreams\, potential\, hopes\, and fears in tow. They grapple with the lives they led on Earth and the choices they made – all except a mysterious and headless girl named Jane Doe\, who has no memory of her past. As instructed by a fortune-telling machine named The Amazing Karnak\, the teens need to decide who amongst them will receive the gift of returning to their life. As they fight to be the one to return\, they realize that life’s ups and downs\, tragedies and victories\, love and loss are all just part of the ride. \nAn added bonus to the Metropolis production features Director Lillian Castillo. Castillo is the original “Constance” on the world premiere cast recording. She originated the role in the American premiere at Chicago Shakespeare Theater and continued performing in the Off-Broadway\, Seattle and Atlanta productions. \nThe regular performance schedule is Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 and 7:30 p.m. The performance on Saturday\, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. will be closed captioned and the performance on Thursday\, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. will be ASL interpreted. King Dr. (47th Street entrance). The premier Illinois tap dancing event of the year follows M.A.D.D. Rhythms Day in Chicago\, Thursday\, Oct. 1. This Anniversary Summit includes three days of dance\, discussion and classes while celebrating the tap dance community with tours and panels as well as the premiere of works from company Founder Bril Barrett\, who also has been named Newcity’s Players 50 Hall of Fame (2026) and received “The Hoofer Award” from Tap City 2025\, as well as a premiere from Founder Tre Dumas. Additionally\, a screening of “Beyond a Shuffle\,” a new documentary about M.A.D.D. Rhythms will be shown. \nChicago Tap Summit Schedule:\nOctober 2 – 4\nHarold Washington Cultural Center\, 4701 S. King Dr. (47th Street entrance) \nThe 2026 Chicago Tap Summit welcomes participants from Chicago and around the world for three days of dance\, discussion and classes celebrating the tap dance community with instructors Maud Arnold\, Bril Barrett\, Ian Berg\, Tristan Bruns\, Andrew Carr\, Ja’bowen Dixon\, Star Dixon\, Tre Dumas\, Izaiah Harris\, Caleb Jackson\, Donnetta Jackson\, Lisa LaTouche\, KJ Sheldon and Mr. Taps. \nFriday\, Oct. 2\nClasses on Friday\, Oct. 2\, the first day of the Summit includes a three-hour residency with Andrew Carr. The Metropolis production is directed by original American cast member Lillian Castillo\, and music directed by Carolyn Brady. \nIn a now-abandoned theme park not so long ago\, six teenagers hurtled to their death on the roller coaster The Cyclone. Now\, those teens are back from the afterlife\, with all of their unlived dreams\, potential\, hopes\, and fears in tow. They grapple with the lives they led on Earth and the choices they made – all except a mysterious and headless girl named Jane Doe\, who has no memory of her past. As instructed by a fortune-telling machine named The Amazing Karnak\, the teens need to decide who amongst them will receive the gift of returning to their life. As they fight to be the one to return\, they realize that life’s ups and downs\, tragedies and victories\, love and loss are all just part of the ride. \nAn added bonus to the Metropolis production features Director Lillian Castillo. Castillo is the original “Constance” on the world premiere cast recording. DESCRIPTION:Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre (CRDT) is proud to announce the return of the Chicago Latinx/e Contemporary Movement Festival\, October 2 and 3\, celebrating Latinx/e contemporary movement artists at the Dance Center of Columbia College\, 1306 S. Michigan Ave.\, with the generous support of The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation. The Festival features CRDT performing a new work-in-progress by Princess Grace Awardee Omar Román de Jesús\, with the work of Festival Artists Ruben Andrés Castillo Gomez; Tori Cristi; Anniela Huidobro Castro; Anise Fernández and Amanda Ramirez; Paula Sousa and Mark Travis Rivera\, The Professional Storyteller. Festival artists were selected through an open call for proposals from Latinx/e creators who engage choreographically with bi-national and multi-racial identity\, multi-generational experiences\, immigrant narratives\, identity politics and/or gender expansiveness. \nThrough this festival\, now in its second year\, Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre uplifts a multiplicity of Latinx/e perspectives—creating a mosaic of stories shaped by heritage\, migration\, gender\, queerness\, resilience and joy. DESCRIPTION:Idle Muse Theatre Company continues its 20th anniversary season and kicks off the Halloween season with Witch\, September 10 – October 10\, written by Jen Silverman\, directed by Idle Muse Ensemble Member Libby Beyreis\, at The Edge Off-Broadway Theater\, 1133 W Catalpa Ave. \nA charming devil arrives in the quiet village of Edmonton to bargain for the souls of its residents in exchange for their darkest wishes. Elizabeth should be his easiest target\, having been labeled a “witch” and cast out by the town\, but her soul is not so readily bought. As the devil returns to convince her – and then returns again – unexpected passions flare\, alliances are formed and the village is forever changed. An inventive retelling of a Jacobean drama\, this sharp\, subversive fable debates how much our souls are worth when hope is hard to come by. \nThe performance schedule is Thursdays\, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.\, with an added Wednesday performance on October 7 at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are now on sale for $20 and $30\, with $50 “pay it forward” tickets that assist in subsidizing tickets for those who may not be able to access the production otherwise. King Dr. (47th Street entrance). The premier Illinois tap dancing event of the year follows M.A.D.D. Rhythms Day in Chicago\, Thursday\, Oct. 1. This Anniversary Summit includes three days of dance\, discussion and classes while celebrating the tap dance community with tours and panels as well as the premiere of works from company Founder Bril Barrett\, who also has been named Newcity’s Players 50 Hall of Fame (2026) and received “The Hoofer Award” from Tap City 2025\, as well as a premiere from Founder Tre Dumas. Additionally\, a screening of “Beyond a Shuffle\,” a new documentary about M.A.D.D. Rhythms will be shown. \nChicago Tap Summit Schedule:\nOctober 2 – 4\nHarold Washington Cultural Center\, 4701 S. King Dr. (47th Street entrance) \nThe 2026 Chicago Tap Summit welcomes participants from Chicago and around the world for three days of dance\, discussion and classes celebrating the tap dance community with instructors Maud Arnold\, Bril Barrett\, Ian Berg\, Tristan Bruns\, Andrew Carr\, Ja’bowen Dixon\, Star Dixon\, Tre Dumas\, Izaiah Harris\, Caleb Jackson\, Donnetta Jackson\, Lisa LaTouche\, KJ Sheldon and Mr. Taps. \nFriday\, Oct. 2\nClasses on Friday\, Oct. 2\, the first day of the Summit includes a three-hour residency with Andrew Carr. DESCRIPTION:Metropolis Performing Arts Centre\, located in the heart of downtown Arlington Heights\, 111 W. Campbell St.\, is proud to announce the cast and creative team for Ride the Cyclone\, September 16 – October 25. Ride the Cyclone is presented with book\, music and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell. The Metropolis production is directed by original American cast member Lillian Castillo\, and music directed by Carolyn Brady. \nIn a now-abandoned theme park not so long ago\, six teenagers hurtled to their death on the roller coaster The Cyclone. Now\, those teens are back from the afterlife\, with all of their unlived dreams\, potential\, hopes\, and fears in tow. They grapple with the lives they led on Earth and the choices they made – all except a mysterious and headless girl named Jane Doe\, who has no memory of her past. As instructed by a fortune-telling machine named The Amazing Karnak\, the teens need to decide who amongst them will receive the gift of returning to their life. As they fight to be the one to return\, they realize that life’s ups and downs\, tragedies and victories\, love and loss are all just part of the ride. \nAn added bonus to the Metropolis production features Director Lillian Castillo. Castillo is the original “Constance” on the world premiere cast recording. She originated the role in the American premiere at Chicago Shakespeare Theater and continued performing in the Off-Broadway\, Seattle and Atlanta productions. \nThe regular performance schedule is Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 and 7:30 p.m. The performance on Saturday\, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. will be closed captioned and the performance on Thursday\, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. will be ASL interpreted.
