Elizabeth should be his easiest target\, having been labeled a “witch” and cast out by the town\, but her soul is not so readily bought. As the devil returns to convince her – and then returns again – unexpected passions flare\, alliances are formed and the village is forever changed. An inventive retelling of a Jacobean drama\, this sharp\, subversive fable debates how much our souls are worth when hope is hard to come by. \nThe performance schedule is Thursdays\, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.\, with an added Wednesday performance on October 7 at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are now on sale for $20 and $30\, with $50 “pay it forward” tickets that assist in subsidizing tickets for those who may not be able to access the production otherwise. DESCRIPTION:The Uncanny Attic is a theatrical anthology inspired by Edward Gorey’s iconic The Gashlycrumb Tinies. This absurdist dark comedy series brings to life\, and then almost immediately to death\, the book’s twenty-six ill-fated children. Each installment ‘chapters’ of The Uncanny Attic creates imagined histories for four of Gorey’s ill-fated characters as told through puppetry\, clowning\, dance\, live music\, drag\, stop-motion animation\, and visual theater. \nSet inside the mysterious attic of an abandoned house on the cape and narrated by a family of resident raccoons\, each chapter is a self-contained theatrical journey into the camp macabre world of the fictional town\, Willowdale. This project is all about gender-fuckery\, breaking the binary\, and queering the musical theatre canon.

Campbell St.\, is proud to announce the cast and creative team for Ride the Cyclone\, September 16 – October 25. Ride the Cyclone is presented with book\, music and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell. The Metropolis production is directed by original American cast member Lillian Castillo\, and music directed by Carolyn Brady. \nIn a now-abandoned theme park not so long ago\, six teenagers hurtled to their death on the roller coaster The Cyclone. Now\, those teens are back from the afterlife\, with all of their unlived dreams\, potential\, hopes\, and fears in tow. They grapple with the lives they led on Earth and the choices they made – all except a mysterious and headless girl named Jane Doe\, who has no memory of her past. As instructed by a fortune-telling machine named The Amazing Karnak\, the teens need to decide who amongst them will receive the gift of returning to their life. As they fight to be the one to return\, they realize that life’s ups and downs\, tragedies and victories\, love and loss are all just part of the ride. \nAn added bonus to the Metropolis production features Director Lillian Castillo. Castillo is the original “Constance” on the world premiere cast recording. She originated the role in the American premiere at Chicago Shakespeare Theater and continued performing in the Off-Broadway\, Seattle and Atlanta productions. \nThe regular performance schedule is Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 and 7:30 p.m. The performance on Saturday\, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. will be closed captioned and the performance on Thursday\, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. will be ASL interpreted. SUMMARY:The 37th Annual Rhinoceros Theater Festival Returns September 20 - October 26 at Four Chicago Venues
DESCRIPTION:Curious Theatre Branch\, with co-producers Chicago Danztheater Ensemble\, Chicago Dramatists and Labyrinth Club\, are pleased to announce the 37th annual Rhinoceros Theater Festival\, September 20 – October 26 at four venues across Chicago. The month-long festival of shows will kick off with a special “afternoon tea” edition of the Full Moon Vaudeville\, this concert launches the festival on Sunday\, Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. at Facility Theatre\, 1138 N. California Ave.\, headlined by art/folk/cabaret act The Crooked Mouth and other special guests. \nSince its inception in 1989\, as a single weekend of shows in the Wicker Park neighborhood\, this unique and mutable fringe festival has expanded and contracted to fit the time and has become the longest running Fringe Festival in Chicago. Festival events will take place at four venues this year: Facility Theatre\, 1138 N. California Ave. in Humboldt Park (Full Moon Vaudeville only); Chicago Dramatists\, 798 N. Aberdeen St. in River West\, The Labyrinth Club\, 3658 N. Pulaski Rd. in the Irving Park neighborhood and Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble\, 1650 W. Foster Ave. \nThe 37th Rhinofest will feature mostly original work from Chicago artists and companies\, including new work from The Fat Theatre Project\, the 10th anniversary of Ira Murfin’s An Interview\, a new work by Jessica Wright Buha\, new work from Drinking and Writing Theater\, and\, of course\, an evening of short works by The Curious Theatre Branch\, Rhinofest’s host. New to the Festival in 2026 are partnerships with Chicago Danztheater\, a beautiful space in Andersonville\, featuring movement-based work and a creativity workshop called Maps\, Guides & Legends: a generative writing and interdisciplinary art-making workshop on Saturday\, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. \nAll tickets are offered at pay-what-you-can pricing\, with a $25 suggested price. Kitch uses theatre\, drag\, and performance art to craft narrative displays – curating the personal stories and cultural references chosen to be brought to life. \nKitch was seen already this year premiering two original shows: “BACCHAE” – a full scale adaptation of Euripedies’ “The Bacchae” as a 2025 DCASE grantee\, and “In the Kitchen with Kitch Annette: The Harm Reduction Episode” – a solo workshop turned fever dream drag show for Center on Halsted’s Trans Youth & Family Action Summit.
