Background music by Herbert Stothart. Dance and vocal arrangements by Peter Howard. Orchestration by Larry Wilcox. Adapted by John Kane for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Based upon the classic motion picture owned by Turner Entertainment Co. and distributed in all media by Warner Bros. Directed and choreographed by Tor Campbell and music directed by Sharon Mason. \nAudiences are invited to join The Cowardly Lion\, Scarecrow\, Tin Man\, Dorothy… and Toto\, too\, as they follow the yellow brick road in search of their heart’s desires. For the first time on Metropolis’ Main Stage\, L. Frank Baum’s tale comes to life in this extraordinary story of heart\, friendship\, courage and belonging. As all three maneuver through the ever-present reality of Olivia’s injury\, they find escape however they can. \nWINDOWS was developed through PrideArts’ Queery Playwrights Lab\, in which 33 scripts with an LGBTQ focus were submitted for consideration and six were selected for further development. Scenes from those six scripts were performed publicly\, and with the audience’s help\, WINDOWS was chosen for this full production\, to be directed by with QUEERY Festival Director Taylor Pasche.

Read artist statements below: \nJames Schenck (he/him): Flower Power \nJames Schenck’s newest series of flower drawings considers the connections between the body\, the bloom\, and the page. Drawn on newsprint with marker and gesso\, the works transform familiar floral forms into portraits—studies of vulnerability\, resilience\, and care. \nFor Schenck\, flowers are more than symbols of beauty. Like bodies\, they age\, bruise\, flourish\, and fade. The newsprint itself becomes an extension of this metaphor. Delicate and ephemeral\, the paper yellows over time\, recording its own passage through the world. Together\, flower\, body\, and page become interconnected vessels\, each carrying traces of experience\, memory\, and transformation. \nWorking from his personal archive and photographic references\, Schenck creates images that hover between observation and remembrance. Layers of marker and luminous gesso obscure and reveal forms\, echoing the ways we preserve\, revisit\, and reinterpret our own histories. The resulting drawings celebrate the beauty found not in permanence\, but in attention—the ways living things thrive when tended\, cared for\, and allowed to evolve. \nErica Holman (she/her) \nI am always observing people\, places\, and especially nature as I move through my life. Strongly contrasting elements and themes catch my eye and draw me in. Something rusty inside a lush garden\, water droplets splashing off scratchy concrete\, or shiny materials woven into a mixed-media piece—these are the kinds of details I enjoy exploring and playing with in my photography and artwork. \nThis creativity evolved through my professional work as an early childhood teacher\, where I brought art\, exploration\, and collaboration into my classrooms. Now I continue my journey of joy and discovery by working with photography\, watercolors\, acrylics\, and many other mixed-media materials. When Mike finds one dying in the woods and is given the only known copy of the recipe\, he has to decide whether to return it to the monastery that keeps it safe or die trying. Audiences may experience a high-action comedy script complete with lights\, sound\, music and other fun surprises throughout the night\, including four cocktails crafted specifically for each act of the show. Finally\, at The Last Word\, there is only one rule: No one knows what will happen tonight. DESCRIPTION:Dream Devis\, Chicago’s trans femme South Asian collective\, return to Steppenwolf after their sold-out eponymous show last year. Join our Devis for an existentialist romp through time\, history\, mythology and pop culture through song\, dance and comedy. \nDream Devis: The Death And Life Of centers and celebrates women at the margins of their own stories via a decidedly queer\, camp lens on the big questions of life (and death). \nThis new work uses a short story by the legendary polymath Rabindranath Tagore\, known widely as the greatest man of Indian letters\, as the creative springboard for a fantastical exploration of mythology\, literature and history.
