SUMMARY:Latine Homelessness Report - Community Discussion on LGBTQ+ Youth
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by La Casa Norte\, ALMA Chicago\, Equality Illinois & ILLCF: a public forum on Latine LGBTQ+ youth homelessness and policy solutions. \nJoin La Casa Norte\, ALMA Chicago\, Equality Illinois\, and the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation for a community conversation on the disproportionate impact of homelessness on Latine LGBTQ+ youth. \nThe event will highlight Latine Homelessness in Illinois: Structural Drivers of Inequality\, developed by the University of Illinois Chicago’s Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy in partnership with the Illinois Office to Prevent and End Homelessness. Co-authored by Iván Arenas and a UIC research team\, the report examines how housing costs\, unstable employment\, discrimination\, immigration barriers\, and limited access to health care contribute to homelessness. It also explores “doubled-up” homelessness—temporarily staying with friends or relatives because stable housing is unavailable—which often goes uncounted. \nPeople with lived experience will help ground the discussion. State Senator Omar Aquino and State Representative Lilian Jiménez will share legislative perspectives and potential solutions. \nThis event is free and open to the public and media.

Stay for the chemistry and convos. Leave with new perspectives and relationships that just might change everything. \nAfter all\, your next opportunity might not come from schmoozing the room—it might just come from that unexpected person standing across it. \n“It’s Not You. It’s the Algorithm”: Holding On in the Interim\nTIME: 7:30 – 8:15p \nHosted by the award-winning “Twin Spin” podcast duo hosts — Andrew & Andrian Nuño — kick off the evening with a candle side chat with Anthony L. Williams and Prem Pahwa — Creator and Cast Member of the award-winning docuseries\, It’s Not You. IT’S ME: CHICAGO follows three bachelors who re-embark into the dating scene — some for their first time\, and others hopefully for their last! While receiving expert guidance on healthy relationships\, sex\, and vulnerability\, the niches and experiences of modern queer dating will be tossed aside as our Bachelors find themselves in the midst of personal growth while attending individual and group mental health therapy sessions. Along their journeys of receiving clinical coaching and support\, they’ll also receive tools to help unpack baggage and trauma from previous relationships so that they don’t take them into the new ones they’re starting to build. \nView the trailer here: https://youtu.be/rAbENAuxMTI

SUMMARY:So\, You Want To Start A Business?
DESCRIPTION:Hosted during TechChicago Week in partnership with TechNexus \nIn a climate shaped by layoffs\, career pivots\, and rapid technological change\, more people are asking the same question: \n“What can I build for myself?” \nThis event brings together founders\, investors\, creatives\, and operators for an honest\, grounded conversation about entrepreneurship\, AI-era opportunity\, and building with limited resources. \nThis is not a startup fantasy panel. \nIt is a real-world conversation about turning skills into income\, ideas into businesses\, and uncertainty into momentum — especially for those building without massive funding\, insider access\, or large teams. \nWhat We’ll Explore:\n• Turning career pivots into business opportunities\n• What actually makes an idea viable\n• How founders are using AI + lean tools to launch faster\n• Starting with limited capital\, clarity\, or time\n• Identity\, resilience\, and access in entrepreneurship\n• What it really takes to build something sustainable \nWhat to Expect:\n✨ Actionable founder insights\n✨ Investor + operator perspectives\n✨ High-impact networking\n✨ Real conversations (not surface-level startup talk)\n✨ Complimentary drinks (21+) \nImportant Notes:\nThis is a limited-capacity TechChicago Week event experience. RSVP does not guarantee entry once capacity is reached. \nRefund Policy:\nAll ticket sales are final. Due to limited capacity and the curated nature of this TechChicago Week event experience\, we are unable to offer refunds.
